An Epic Day in Kauai: Snorkeling, Helicopters, and Ziplining Adventures

Aloha! My day in Kauai was nothing short of extraordinary, packed with thrilling adventures, stunning views, and unforgettable memories. From the breathtaking Napali Coast to soaring above Jurassic Falls in a helicopter and ziplining over Kauai’s lush landscapes, here’s a detailed look at my epic day, complete with driving directions and must-see sights along the way.

7:00 AM - Napali Snorkel Sail with Holo Holo Charters

Book the Napali Snorkel Tour

The day began early at Port Allen, where I checked in with Holo Holo Charters for the Napali Snorkel Sail. Boarding the sleek catamaran Leila, we were greeted with a continental breakfast as we cruised along Kauai’s west side. Passing Polihale Beach, we were mesmerized by the Napali Coast’s towering cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and hidden sea caves.

The snorkeling stop was a highlight, with vibrant marine life and crystal-clear waters. Afterward, we enjoyed a delicious build-your-own lunch while the crew hoisted the sails for a peaceful ride back to Port Allen.

Driving Directions to Port Allen:
From Lihue, take HI-50 west for about 35 minutes. Along the way, enjoy views of Hanapepe Valley and stop at the Swinging Bridge if time permits.

12:30 PM - Doors-Off Helicopter Tour

After the snorkeling tour, I headed back to Lihue Airport for an adrenaline-pumping helicopter ride. The doors-off adventure provided unobstructed views of Kauai’s most iconic landmarks, including the Waimea Canyon, Wailua Falls, and the jaw-dropping Manawaiopuna Falls (aka Jurassic Falls).

The highlight? Flying into the Waialeale Crater, surrounded by lush green walls and cascading waterfalls, also known as the Weeping Wall. The pilot’s commentary added depth to the experience, making it both thrilling and educational.

Driving Directions to Lihue Airport:
From Port Allen, take HI-50 east for about 35 minutes. Pass through the charming towns of Kalaheo and Hanapepe, with opportunities to stop for local snacks or souvenirs.

4:00 PM - Koloa Zipline Tour

Book the Koloa Zipline Tour

The final adventure of the day took me to Koloa for the island’s longest zipline tour. This 3.5-hour experience featured eight lines, including the Waita Zipline, spanning half a mile.

Soaring above lush jungles, the Waita Reservoir, and historic sugar plantation land was an exhilarating way to end the day. The Flyin’ Kaua’iian harness let me zip hands-free, and I even tried going upside down! The views of the Hoary Head Mountain Range and Mt. Haupu were unforgettable.

Driving Directions to Koloa:
From Lihue, take HI-50 west for 15 minutes, then turn left onto Maluhia Road (Tree Tunnel Road) to Koloa. The drive itself is scenic, with towering eucalyptus trees lining the way.
